If you want a smooth tenancy and no problems then i recommend you stay very far from Your move. My boyfriend and I rented a flat through Your move in Feb 2008 for a year, when we first moved in the flat wasnt very clean, oven was filthy, curry stains on the skirting of the kitchen etc etc. The radiotor in the living room did not work (we had a 1 bed flat therefore half our flat wasnt heated), it took over 3 weeks to be fixed and a contractor was sent out twice. The oven didnt work either when we moved in, switched on but no heat was emitted-this took a week to fix. Next to go was the tumble dryer, never really worked even after they fixed it so we gave up on it! In December we returned home at around 12am to find that the door wouldnt open, we spent the night in a hotel for which we were not reimbursed because in the contract there was a number for a 24hour locksmith (we dont carry the contract around with us). A locksmith was sent out and he couldnt get in through the door so he decided to lever the window open. He opened the lock and said he was going to Your move to ask them if he could fit a new lock. After he left we were locked in the flat (thankfully we were on the ground floor so we could jump out in case of an emergency). When he came back he changed the lock and left. I told Your move that the window was now broken as it did not shut properly. Window was never fixed for another 8 months!!!! Landlord got in touch cause she heard we were going to contest our tenancy agreement! We had to renew our contract for 6 months(i was a student couldnt move at the time) our rent was increased and were charged £109! Our renewal contract was sent out two months late and then we received a debt collection letter for the two months increase we didnt pay.....we were never billed for it and the standing order they sent us was to start in April (not feb as it was meant to). Our tenancy ended on a sunday and Your move wanted us to deposit the keys on that day and they would come and check the flat later that week! A friend advised that i should be there and therefore i asked if we could do it on the saturday before. I was rudely told they would come on saturday morning at 10am and we would have to hand over the keys then (lose 2 days of rent!!!!!). I drove an hour and a half to meet the checkout person and he never turned up!!!!! I called the agency and they sent over someone who basically told me that the checkout would happen later and he cant do anything about it. This person took the meter readings and said he would call the utility company...he then proceeded to lose these readings! we were then charged for a cleaning fee (£135) and to fix the window which the locksmith broke (£650). We are contesting the window fee but your move have been useless....just stole our money in any way and then did not help us when the landlord accussed us of breaking the window which was broken by the locksmith they sent us! They are a joke...should be closed down
